Cosplay Music Video Contest
With the rise of Cosplay Music Videos we are proud to present the Genki 2012 CMV contest. We have written a few ground rules for the contest, and we hope you give it your all. A CMV is a Cosplay Music Video which commonly entails making your own music video to match music, cosplay and video editing skills. We will be choosing the top 8 videos that are entered to be shown on stage at Genki 2012. Our judges will be selecting the first and second prize winners accordingly.
Winners and Criteria
We will be choosing based on the following. We are looking for the best editing skills with effects, fades, transitions, and editing of the video itself. We are putting focus on the creativity of the video and how the editing compliments the video and musics bond. The story in the music video is also a focal point of our attention including how the cosplayers play a role. You get to chose the theme this year be it sad, romance, comedy, action or just plane whacked out good to go party rock!
We will be having two winners this year and they will be the creators of the films. There will be prizes, but for this first year we are going to keep them secret, but we garantee you it will be wonderful!
Rules
- The minimum duration of the video must be at least 2 minutes.
- The maximum duration of the video must not exceed 4 minutes.
- You may only use one song. (Secondary music must last no longer than 30 sec)
- You must be the creator of the clips used. Do not edit other cosplay videos together.
- Videos must include at least 1 cosplayer.
- Western cosplay is allowed, but we require 1 J-popculture cosplay.
- You may submit up to 3 videos, but only 1 video gets into the final round pr. creator.
- You may cosplay from video games, anime, and manga alike.
Other than the above rules you are free to do what you like! We will be introducing theme categories next year, but this year we give everyone creative free range and hope to see a mix of videos.
Registration
We have not yet opened registration of videos. The registrations will open soon though. Until then you can prepare your videos while we prepare to recieve them. File formats and sizes are almost unimportant since we can make it work. We will guide you through our registration process and announce changes as we get further into the new year.
Winspiration
Check out some CMVs for inspiration on what could work. We also suggest you check youtube and other media for CMV inspiration since our judges will be doing this as well to make sure they are well prepared for the contest. Happy hunting Genki Directors.
